Peter Sheppard Skaerved - Violins
Grammy-nominated virtuoso violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved relishes the constant interplay between past and present.
An evening exploring the earliest and newest music for violin alone. Peter Sheppard Skaerved presents works from the late 1500s and 1600s, written in Italy, France, Austria and Great Britain, alongside some of the wonderfully colourful, dramatic music being composed for him today, by composers from the USA, Iceland, Cyprus and more. Played on two fascinating violins from1628 and 1685. The violin is itself the most astonishing ‘time machine’: a 400 year old object that brings the newest music to new life, offering today’s composers, players and audiences visions of futures still unheard.
